The OFW remittances in the country continue to grow. Just recently, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) reveals that remittances from January to August amount to $14.5 billion, 5.91% higher compared to the $13.733 billion for the same period last year.
Security Bank, one of the leading financial services and solutions providers, offers its remittance and loan products for OFWs and their beneficiaries. These products respond to the needs of OFWs as investment and savings options that will allow their money to grow.
This is the reason why Security Bank is supporting the 10th MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo, an advocacy expo that promotes entrepreneurship and business to OFWs and Balikbayans.
Security Bank will present various remittance products to potential OFW entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities from the traditional cash pick-up services to real-time credit to bank fund transfers and the cutting edge cardless ATM withdrawal. For individuals, the Bank will offer card products, and Home and Auto Loan services. Security Bank believes that if OFWs will invest their money they can enjoy a better and sustainable quality of life upon their retirement to work.
MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo is slated this December 10 to 11, 2013, SMX Convention Center. The event continues to grow in assisting OFWs and Balikbayans in finding business opportunities and legal financial investments.

The day 2 of the International Beauty, Health and Wellness Expo (IBHWEX), Sept. 26-28, 2013 at SMX Convention Center. The day can be summed-up as educational.
Still fresh from our memories the breakthrough event that promises to be bigger next year. The International Beauty, Health and Wellness Expo (IBHWEX), Sept. 26-28, SMX Convention Center is the event for the beauty, health and wellness expo in the Philippines in the years to come.
So it came to pass!
The first Big Data Conference in the Philippines has ended. The conference is akin to the velocity of big data. It passed like a blur but it leaves a lot of questions and opportunities.
Here is the video recap. We will see you next year for a bigger and deeper discussion of Big Data.
iPlus Intelligent Network, Inc., the managed I.T. services firm of ePLDT led a host of thought leaders in the first ever Data Conference at the Crowne Plaza in Ortigas Center.
A first leg of what is envisioned as an annual gathering of the Philippine business sectors’ thought leaders, iPlus’ workforce and management integration systems head, Mr. Junie Aguirre, familiarized a diverse crowd of executives from various industries with the concept of big data and the relevance of the burgeoning aptitude to curate, analyze, store, share, and use large chunks of data to achieve business goals in the information age.
As the integration of business with information technology continues to flourish, Aguirre said that “data is becoming a key basis of competition underpinning new waves of productivity, growth such as hard assets and human capital, innovation and modern economic activity.” In the various aspects of an organization’s operations, data requires analytics for any value to be driven out of it. Telecom companies need sufficient data to gauge mobile phone usage of their consumers and ultimately map out strategies that could give their subscribers improved or better user experience.
With technology and the dizzying changes that force companies how they do business, knowing how to accurately capture, store, analyze, and share definitely enables operational efficiency and flexibility to face imminent challenges.
