5 takeaways from 7th Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs' Expo

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

The 7th Philippine Business and Entrepreneurs' Expo at the SM Megamall Megatrade Hall 1 has just finished its run last weekend. Aside from the exhibit, the 7th PBEX is filled  and here are the five takeaways from the event's conferences.

Harness the Human Capital

RBG Philippines CEO Mr. Raymond Lim did his quick talk in the first day of the Expo sharing the seven things to help companies run their employees to their fullest potential. Among these seven things is to "raise hand for accountability": to own up to issues and solutions.

Agriculture is important

"Do we have a choice?," asks the "brand healer" Mr. Willy Arcilla in his talk about the ASEAN Integration. He then stress the importance of agriculture in the next few segments of his talk, saying that agriculture is a big deal for economies to develop.

Train yourself by joining organizations

Mr. Renato Florencio, International Director for Asia of the Ambassador Club, advised the delegates to join civic organizations. "[Be a member for] five years at Toastmasters, then five years at the Jaycees [Joint Chamber International]." He mentioned that joining civic organizations will change their perspective in life, aside from meeting new friends or business partners.

Be resourceful

Atty. Dulce Blanca Punzalan of Filbamboo Exponents, Inc. showed the benefits of bamboo in her talk about resourcefulness and innovation. There's more to bamboo than just a part of the bahay-kubo or as a decoration, as Atty. Punzalan showed that we can make personal care, clothing and other products (who's in for a keyboard and mouse?) using bamboo. To top it off, she sang Bamboo's "Noypi" with a bamboo ukelele, showing off her vocal prowess.

Our voice is great

Creativoices Productions' Mr. Pocholo Gonzales leveraged on his talent as a voice artist to build his business with a starting capital of Php10,000, a laptop and a microphone. Now, the production house shows a lot of projects under its helm, even as far as showing a teaser for a Transformers game.

Filipinos can communicate like the Americans well, and that's why the country is preferred by call center companies; but this does not mean that we can excel in other segments than just call centers. As attested by Mr. Gonzales, we can also produce our own audio books.

With three days filled with information and entertainment once more, the 7th PBEX is a success. We thank all the attendees and visitors for visiting and enjoying the 7th PBEX. See you next year!
