This is your year as an event management professional. All the
things that you set your mind to achieve you will achieve. In order for you to
ensure that this happens, here are 5 habits that will dramatically improve your
event management skills.
1.
Avoid Procrastination
I love Gary Vaynerchuk. For him, the most important word is HUSTLE. This means that while the rest
are resting, you work. Always hustle to achieve more things. Always try to be
productive. Action is better than words. Action is better than any other
elements of your event management profession. If you are moving, you are
accomplishing a lot of things.
2.
No More Assumptions
“This is
a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody
would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody
thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do
it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what
Anybody could have.”
This is
one of the most important stories in my life. It showed that we cannot assume somebody
would do that task for us. We must remove or destroy the silos that divide our
organizations.
Never
assume. Always be proactive, and the best, always check and take action for
things that need our attention and are critical to our success as an event
professional.
3.
Say No
The hardest thing to do is the courage to say no. I have heard and read that all successful people and event management professionals are
brave because they know how to say no.
The culture to say yes or the wiring to say yes always dilute our
energy and prevent us from maximizing our full potential.
The courage to say no, and choose your battles will enable you this
year to produce more and achieve more.
4.
Find and Achieve Your One Thing
Gary Keller’s best selling book “ The One Thing” is also a habit
that will open a great opportunity to you.
Thinking hard and choosing to achieve The One Thing that matters
most to you this year will put you to greater heights.
But first things first, this One Thing should be bigger than
yourself. It should be something that makes you excited to get up every day and
embrace the challenges of life.
5.
Be a Blessing to Others, Everyday
Pablo Picasso said, “ The
meaning of life is finding your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away”.
Being a blessing to others will make your 2017 as an event
management professional a purpose driven life. It will make you happy.
We are in a service driven industry, the more you give your life to
others thru excellent service, and passionate demonstration of your talents and
skills, your 2017 will be one of those amazing years that you will ever have as
an event management professional.
So let us join hands and make unbelievable breakthroughs this year.

Last October 2016, Vine, a division of Twitter, has announced that it's shutting down this January. Vine, who made a name for its six-second video rule, has been a home to a lot of great funny videos from the common folk. Vine also gave birth to one of the most talked-about viral curators on Facebook, Filipino Vines.
The death of Vine is yet another lesson in innovation - yes, you have a great product that people use, but will people use it in the near future?
Considering the changing landscape of online video that shifts to mobile use, Vine got stuck in its features so much that it wasn't able to withstand itself through the times - once your competitor extends your app's limits, and both of you are offering the same experience, it's your move or you're toast.
Setting aside the reason that Twitter, Vine's mother company, is struggling to be financially sufficient, the people who had their fame on Vine had jumped to other platforms due to their additional features, which in turn leaves advertisers no choice but to un-follow Vine as well.
Now that the Vine app has become the Vine Camera, people are still able to make 6-second videos and save it to their phone for sharing online. Thanks Vine for letting people be creative with your platform, and we're looking forward for more quick videos online through your Vine Camera.

We stumbled upon another answer on Quora about Sales tips, and this will make you wonder, "How did he do that?"
Read Rick Cormier's answer to Can an introvert become a salesman? on Quora
Of all the slick salesmen who can answer you straight out off the bat, one introvert has beaten them all. The secret? He's tending to the needs closely, no more, no less. It's like hiding your power levels at first contact.
For salesmen, knowledge is important; but knowledge is nothing without caring to what people need. This is why the heart and the mind cannot be superior to one another.

So
you are now all set to make your dream conference into reality. You believe
that a lot of people will greatly benefit from this conference. But first things
first, before the marketing the conference, inviting speakers and other details
needed to make this dream into action, you need to choose your venue.
Choosing
the venue of your conference may look easy, but is not. Most of the times,
the success of your event or conference hinges in having the right venue.
So
here are guidelines that will make your venue selection easy.
1.
Know Your Conference
By
this, know the purpose of your conference. What is the reason the conference
exists.
The
nature of your conference will determine if it is best indoor or outdoor.
The
reason and purpose of the conference will play a big factor in what venue it should be at.
So
the best question to ask, and you must answer is: Is this venue fit my
conference purpose and objectives?
2.
Determine Your Budget
You
have a great vision of your event, and you are so convinced that your
conference must only be staged in a particular venue. In fact, you already have
a venue in mind.
Should
you now push for that venue that is your first choice? The answer is yes only
if you have already determined your venue budget.
The Conference
is still a money making endeavor. Let us face it, we like to give the best to
our target market, and the venue is one of the first things that will show how we
would like them to have the best, but if it is out of our budget, we must look
for an alternative that will still provide high quality, and not cost us our
arm and leg.
This
is just one example of why determining our event budget is important.
We
need to profit to continuously offer annually our conference, therefore, we
need to exercise caution and have a deeper understanding of the financial
requirements of our event.
3.
Know Your Expected Number of
Attendees
If
you are expecting 500 attendees, but your venue can only accommodate 300
attendees you will have a big problem. In fact, you will create a number of
irate and dissatisfied attendees because you cramped them like sardines in a
small can.
The
number of attendees is crucial in your venue selection.
In
addition, the comfort that we wanted to provide to our attendees also improves
their safety and security.
So
always ask the venue managers about the ideal number of attendees that can
occupy their venue, by doing this, you will save yourself from encountering a
lot of problems.
4.
Know the Type of your conference
Is
your conference a business forum like the Metro Manila Business Conference, or
a casual summit like Ad Summit or Geeks on the Beach, a fun semi formal event
like the National Marketing Conference, et
c?
The
type of conference will give you what the right venue for the conference that
you wanted you are dying giving life.
5. A ccess
Is your
venue accessible by public transportation? Is your venue easy to reach by your
delegates? Is your venue having other nearby establishments that delegates can
hang out before and after your conference?
There
are other important and relevant questions to ask in this area. But one thing
is for sure, before you put your signature into the venue contract, make sure
that the venue you will choose is accessible.
In
summary, choosing a venue for your next conference is never easy, but with the
right guidelines you will be making this task less difficult, and achieve the
success you wanted to have for your conference.
