The Game of Marketing
Conference set this November 27-28, 2017 at Sofitel Plaza Hotel; Pasay City
highlights three Marketing Gurus that will serve as keynote speakers.
The marketing gurus are
David Hearn, Regional Head of Strategy, Dentsu X Asia Pacific, Hermawan
Kartajaya, Co Founder of Asian Marketing Federation and President of Indonesian
Council for Small Business, and Dr. Donald Lim, Dentsu Aegis Network,
Philippines.
The Shape and Future of the Marketing Industry
It is very interesting to
learn from these marketing gurus and what they have to say on the shape and
future of the marketing industry for the coming years.
The three keynote speakers
will present their crystal ball on what the future holds for the marketing
world vis -à-vis the business landscape.
As we confront the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous)
World, we are looking for signs and insights that will enable us to navigate
this world fraught with danger.
The keynote speakers,
marketing gurus, well acquainted with this changing landscape can provide us some
signs to where we should be heading.
Wisdom, Leadership and Strategy
Definitely, the Game of
Marketing Conference becomes one of the most important learning events this
year because of these keynote speakers.
Participants can expect to
get wisdom, leadership and strategy to the speech of each keynote speaker.
This is a priceless gain
that one can have by being an attendee and keen listener when these keynote
speakers hit the stage.
The first Marketing Unconference in Asia
The Game of Marketing
Conference worthiness as a learning event not only depends on the keynote
speakers, but the innovation that it offers.
For the first time, the Philippine
Marketing Association, the organizer of the Game of Marketing Conference, is
introducing UnConference, the first in Asia.
More Engagement, More Learnings, More Success
The UnConference format paves the way for the delegates of
the Game of Marketing Conference to experience more engagement with their
co-delegates and thought leaders.
This engagement assures that the delegates will have more
learnings from this format because it is an accepted fact that participation
leads to better acquisition of new concepts.
Ergo, the UnConference will prevent conference fatigue or
boredom among delegates who normally sit for long hours listening to a
list of speakers in a traditional format of the conference.
It is expected that this learning condition will provide more
marketing success to delegates when they return to their respective organizations
and implement their newfound insights and strategies.

The annual national
marketing conference of the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) this year is dubbed as Game of
Marketing - Philippine Marketing Association’s Unconference.
Game of Marketing is
inspired to the current Game of Thrones story where kingdoms battle for
supremacy. In the Game of Marketing, there are seven areas of marketing that
will be discussed. They are Marketing Fundamentals, Research and Data,
Marketing Communication and Media, Creativity and Content, Everything Digital,
Industry Marketing and Innovation and Technology.
These areas of marketing
will also be the discussion points for the first marketing Unconference in
Asia.
An unconference ,
also called an Open Space
conference, is a participant-driven meeting. The term
"unconference" has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of
gatherings that try to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as fees, sponsored
presentations, and top-down organization (Wikipedia).
Typically at an unconference , the attendees at
the beginning of the meeting create the agenda. Anyone who wants to initiate a
discussion on a topic can claim a time and a space. Unconferences typically
feature open discussions rather than having a single speaker at the front of
the room, giving a talk, although any format is permitted. This form of
conference is particularly useful when the attendees generally have a high
level of expertise or knowledge in the field the conference convenes to discuss
(Wikipedia).
Exciting and Rich
Game of Marketing promises to be exciting and
rich because of the unconference format. In this format, you, the attendee,
will now be able to have a chance to share your marketing concerns, and if many
attendees share these concerns become the topic of choice for discussion.
In addition, you will have a better engagement
with other delegates because of this format. Since all or the majority of the
attendees are marketing experts like you, you will be able to generate a deeper
engagement beyond traditional conferences offer.

The recent developments in the event management industry of
the Philippines showed that Event Management is one of the careers in the
future of this country.
From General to Niche
Several events are being divided into smaller and niche
events. In the food industry, there are several big events that were narrowed
and segmented to cater to a very particular audience.
One factor that is driving this trend towards niche is the
explosion of knowledge and birth of different subgroups and sub associations.
This trend is not only true for the food industry, but also
true for other industries as well.
From One Location to
other Locations
From Metro Manila, other events branched out to other
locations. Prominently, there are growths experienced in terms of number of
events in Metro Davao and Metro Cebu.
Other less known provinces, but with economic capabilities
are also a hub for events that were once only found in Metro Manila.
Expect to see more of these events finding their way to
different provinces.
The Rise of Copycats
and New Competitors
As event management becomes popular, and events become one
of the focal points in the daily lives of the country, copycats and new
competitors surface.
Take for example Toycon, the pioneer of toys and pop culture
expo in the country. This event once ruled the landscape of our pop culture.
However, as the years passed by, some contenders came our, one is Asia Pop Comicon.
Next year, another player is throwing their hat in the arena of
competition.
It will be an interesting scene, as Toycon tries to innovate
and separate itself further from these competitors.
Event Management in
the Philippines: The Career of the Future
Again, it is very obvious where the event management
industry in the Philippines is heading: explosive growth.
With this realization, expect a high demand for event
project managers who can integrate all suppliers. You can also see an increase
in the numbers of event management companies coming to life. Another growth
area is the increased opportunities for event freelancers, and increased number
of freelancers.
The education side of this growth is already prepping up to
meet the demands of those wanting to learn further. The Philippine MICE Academy
– the first event management institution in the country comprised of resource
speakers all event management professionals are sharing their secrets and best
practices to all hopefuls.
In addition, the Philippine MICE Academy is also the first
and legitimate institution to give an event management certification that is
recognized by government institutions, private associations and international communities.
In summary, the future is so bright for those who wanted to
enter the event management industry in the Philippines.
