There are a lot of events, tradeshows and exhibition you should not miss. The first quarter of the year is about to fly away and you have nine more months to increase and capture more clients and partners in the events, tradeshows and exhibition.
For our organization the first month of the second quarter is the moment of the truth as it is the first month where our first event rolls-out and after that all of our months are filled with implementation of all the scheduled events, tradeshows and exhibitions.
We are running with adrenaline and excitement as we give life to all the events that we planned and try harder to deliver what the events, tradeshows and exhibitions promised to the participants.
Here are the events, tradeshows and exhibitions you should join (the list will still continue to grow as some of the events that we are about to manage are under negotiations, but I will keep you posted with it).
• Look and Feel Great Event - April 15-16, 2011
• PCA-Metropolitan Chapter Presidents Cup -May 6, 2011
• PMA National Marketing Conference -June/July 2011
• PCCI-Metro Manila Conference -July 29, 2011
• Project and Program Management (P2M) -November 2011
We produced and partnered with associations to deliver with you events that will matter in making your products and services closer to your target market.

Also, if you would like us to handle your events we are still hunger for more events to put into life, do not hesitate to call us if this is your case.

Do you have a goal when you start something ? I guess your answer is yes. But apparently most of us just start something because they just want to.
The driftwood that wanders aimlessly in the ocean becomes one because it fails to be part of a boat, of an objective.
The same is true in joining expos, tradeshows and exhibitions, you must create objectives, deeper one not just to amass a specific amount of money - it is important but it is shallow.
In our modern times, we have GPS or Global Positioning System that guides us to where we can go to reach our destination faster. I have my GPM as a counterpart of this system, GPM stands for Goal Performance Metrics. It is a guidepost to what I should achieve.
I think it is time for all of us in the exhibition industry to be consistent in having GPMs whenever we join expos, tradeshows and exhibitions.

It is Monday and there are a lot of things to be thankful for in the past days. For one, a huge crowd visited different events in Metro Manila and the turn-out is very encouraging for future events and organizers.
Another good news, Nonito Donaire, our very own Filipino Flash, showed his potential by winning last Sunday against a fierce and experienced competitor. But instead of a win that Donaire must work hard, his win is something AWESOME. He knocked out Montiel in the 2nd Round. A scene reminiscent of Pacquiao's Hatton knock-out.
Now going back to event management , Seth Godin wrote a very clear message on how to be successful in tradeshows and exhibition. I cannot help but share this to you so read and enjoy it :
Two paths for successful group events
I'm talking about trade shows, SXSW, street marketing...
There are two ways to be glad you went:
1. An overwhelming show of force. When you have the biggest booth, when you are the buzz of the event, when you are everywhere people look, you reinforce your position as the leader.
2. Powerful personal interactions. Not with everyone. Just with people who want to talk with you, who will benefit from a powerful exchange. Not mass, but high in value. Even better, designing these interactions (and your product) so that this small number of people set out to evangelize their peers on your behalf.
The mistake almost everyone makes is to do both. Or to believe that they know a cheap shortcut on their way to #1. Or to get too busy chasing (and failing) at mass that they don't have time to do the personal.
Years ago, the company I worked for spent millions at various venues of the Consumer Electronics Show. We were there, we were sort of big and we sort of won. But not really. Too much noise, too much competition, we were neither. By trying to reach as many as we could, we were never intimate enough to generate conversations that mattered or ideas that spread...
Once again, it comes down to scale. If you staff and invest appropriately, you don't have to 'win' the show to make it worth the trip. On the other hand, if you're setting out to win and investing at the appropriate level, you better win.

I just recently watched 127 Hours, a story of the triumph of human spirit.
Interestingly, this is a true story and it shows that if a man accumulates a lot of positive memories in his/her mind and heart he/she can survive any obstacles or difficulties he/she may be in, even if it is a life and death situation.
This gets me thinking, in events management an organizer as a company will survive any challenges, even if it is a life and death situation, if it has successfully provided good memories (profitable included) to all of its clients and partners.
If this is the case, the challenge and the process continues to everyday develop a relationship and create memories that will outlast any competition, most especially when the going gets tough in this very competitive industry of events management.

I am a bit emotional.
It is like recalling the People Power Phenomenon in the Philippines. Egypt have done it! It is a miracle. It only says something that human spirit will triumph against evil.
But this write-up is not about politics, I am no expert of this matter.
This is about Egypt's case as being liken to Events Management. The parallel is very similar.
Like there is an issue to be solved in Egypt, in Events Management there is an issue also or objectives to be solved.
More importantly, there is magic when people gather together. In Egypt, people gather to topple a regime. In Events Management, people gather to create business, network, partnership, memories and a lot of things.
In Egypt and in Events Management what is important is being part of the MOMENT.
This is the power of the MOMENT only Events can provide!

Asia is all about relationships.
We do business but first we have to know the person we are dealing with. After this, it is the only time we start doing business with his company. There are some business deals in Asia that are made by handshakes. No contracts are needed to create a million pesos or dollar deals, Trust is the only thing needed to seal it.
I remember a story told that one of our tycoons who owns a bank was approached by his manager, the manager told him that one client wanted to borrow money but when he analyzed it the client has no capacity to pay.
But to the manager’s surprised, the tycoon said lend him money he have the capacity to return it and pay us.
The manager just scratched his head because the tools available like risk analysis and other technical analysis points otherwise. But since the tycoon is his boss he approved that the client be lent a huge sum of money. True enough it was paid by the client.
Trust is like an oil that seamlessly allow relationships and business to move in a blur. We all need to develop trustworthiness in order for us to survive this very complex world.
The same applies in event management in the Philippines, Trust can make or break an event!
P.S.
Catch Stephen M.R. Covey Live in Manila this coming February 28 at Makati Shangrila. Limited slots only so hurry. The event is marketed and managed by Ex-link Management and Marketing Services Corp. call tel # 643-3887 .

There is one unique word in Japanese Culture and Management that we discussed the word is Ba - it is defined as a mental space or platform.
The way office are built around here Ba is very evident and has become one of Japanese weapon for innovation.
In the events management in the Philippines Ba can be very potent. Actually, we have been using this Ba technology of the Japanese. It is just that we need to refine and redirect the energy and the way we use Ba in our country.

I overheard in one boardroom, the management team in a heated discussion if the company should tap an event organizer.
This is a very long discussion but for starter we at EXLINKEVENTS have two interesting cases in our experience. The first, an organization has not held a convention for the past five years. Nobody in their group knows how to execute an event. Enter us in the picture and they have a successful event last year, well attended and have solidified their organization’s membership.
The second one, they have barely two and a half months to execute their event and yet nothing has been started yet. For practical thinkers it is a no brainer, you must cancel the event. But they tapped our services and what have you but one of the best event if not the best event the organization has ever had, this as feed backed by their officers and members.
I am not saying we are heroes and all powerful. What I am pointing out is that
these two cases gives one conclusion: event managers and event management in the Philippines is a necessity and a profession that must be handled by professionals.
What looks like easy is not. It may appear simple but the ramifications of the requirements in executing an event can place you in a labyrinth of no way out.
Therefore, as I recommend let us outsource this critical task to the experts because it is on its own a big and critical matter; and there are experts on event management who sleeps and breaths in running an event and making things happen.
P.S.
EXLINK Onsite – a division of EX-LINK Management and Marketing Services Corporation is one such group that eats managing an event for breakfast so why not give us a call and leverage the group’s expertise.
