It is a universe of a different plane. The busy world around me prevented me from visiting this sanctuary. Not that I am complaining. It is not like that but talking to myself through this medium is long overdue. Being alone and just thinking about the silence and digging deeper into the recessess of my mind is a journey I always enjoy and look forward ( although this opportunity seldom happens).
For the past few months I work and move like a blur. So many meetings that at this point I am thinking if its worth it. So many talks that I am thinking is it worth the effort. So many out of the office and home ventures that I am thinking is it worth if those time is spent with my family.
I guess reality in my time so fast that all the people around are moving crazy that also forces me to move crazy.
I don't mind if I am inside of this reality but right now I am looking for an epiphany. I am waiting for a burst of enlightenment. I am and I will wait for this time.

Trying time are here, and maybe everyday since the first day of history - trying times are present.This is true not only to each individuals but for businesses most especially.
But what do we do with this given.
There are several options:
1. To give-up and die on the process.
2. To run and hide before you reality caught you.
3. To stand and fight back, may win or lose, but come-out wounded.
4. To manage and strategize, lessen the risk and impact.
This are all path that we all can take.
However, if you ask me, I will select number 4. The difference between 3 and 4 is that in 4 you are managing your emotions and thinking with sensitivity of all the situations and developments that you are in.
We cannot influence or change the bigger things that are powerful and beyond our reach. But what we can do is manage our reactions in the center of these chaos. In addition, think of better ways not to be hurt or devastated in the things that are shaping in our very eyes.
I would like to immediately say that we should all think positive but as John Maxwell says we have to be realistic in thinking positive. We have to gauge what are our odds versus life and our personal battles.
This thing that I am saying is very much the same with running an actual event.We plan hard and do checklist in all possible needs and scenarios. Still, on the actual event some unexpected and unseen things happen. What we do is manage and strategize on how to solve the situation - this is the magic of operation there are always surprises but the key is managing it and making it look good in the end.

Fight because to withdraw will not do anything positive to you. Fighting does not automatically means violence. Fighting means standing-up and devising ways on how to survive the challenges hurled by the environment around you.
Fighting can be fun! To fight does not make you serious. Seriousness most of the times deprived you of creativity and the free spirit critical in winning a battle.
But when push comes to shove, yes be serious but after accomplishing the task, after winning the battle, bring the good old reliable smile on your face.
Fight because human spirit is made to make adversity kneel down and surrender to humanity.

Being in the event industry, it is a plus factor. However, the challenge is how to realize the potential of the team. The potential is there but to harness it and convert it to results that is the journey that we all have to take. Together we need to discover ourselves.
Our organization's culture and values are very much the heart of our edge in the competition. We do business for our country. We do business to grow this country to one of the most admired nation in the world, particularly in the business events category.
But first and foremost, youthfullness must be blended with maturity, to which we are now focusing our efforts alongside maintaining our service with our esteemed clients.
I don't know if I sound Greek. I hope that I am no over generalizing so as to make this discussion go to a plain that is perched in the philosophical. I don't want that! It seems that one of the strategy that majority of the companies may it small or big is event. They are all working hard to make their relationship with their clients stick! Yes ! I was there at Sofitel enjoying every Blair Nuggets of Wisdom.
It is indeed a privilege listening to Mr. Blair and how he exchange wit with our very own Che-che Lazaro.
Since much has been written with his visit to Manila, just allow me to focus on his statement that WE ARE LIVING IN A WORLD OF LOW PREDICTABILITY.
I remember during my graduate studies days, one professor of mine showed a booked entitled BLUR. He is also espousing the same concept that everything is happening in a BLUR - that the world is to fast for us to predict what is coming.
In this era of LOW PREDICTABILITY, the importance of Leadership with Values and Love for Humanity becomes more important (I hope I don't sound preaching).
Technology made LOW PREDICTABILITY more of a norm. Just look at our cellphones, first we have a unit that is the fad and the latest.Then just after two weeks, our cellphone units are outdated already (a sad reality of commercialism).
But to me, LOW PREDICTABILITY is an OPPORTUNITY for us FILIPINOS to create something that our culture and history can only create and BRANDISH it to the world.
I don't have an idea what it is. But all I know we are a bamboo the know how to confront strong winds. Therefore, it is just a matter of time. Hopefully I see it in my era.
But if I have powers, let share my wishlist:
1. A Filipino FACEBOOK that is famous globally supplanting FACEBOOK!
2. A Bamboo Car - organic and fuel efficient!
3. An organic fastfood restaurant!
4. Lastly, salabat ala Starbucks brand!
5. A Filipino leader that the global world admires for honesty and leadership!

Just a thought. It is so fast but, luckily, I was able to catch it.
Yesterday I attended the Blue Ocean Strategy CEO Forum. Dr. Kim, the author of BOS, as the speaker discussed and dissected the different aspects of BOS.
This is not what amazed me, but the number of attendees. The number is huge considering the fee of the event which is around P20,000+
In America, a friend told me that a lot of people could not event pay the rent of their house. But here the events are flourishing.
Besides BOS success, another foreign speaker is coming to town. He is none other that Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Again, it hit me that it put a smile in my face - RECESSION WHAT?
Entrepreneurs and countrymen let us move forward!

Kudos to Center for Arts Foundation for successfully staging " Echoes and Dreams" a benefit concert for rape victims.
The concert was held last Friday and performers like Richard Poon, Ronnie Liang, Jed Madela, Mike Chan graced the show.
But all eyes where focused on the jazz singing diva Estella Ignacio and other Center for Arts Foundation Talents.
Kudos to Jerome Vinarao for making this for a good-cause-concert possible!

The current global crisis can kill the faint of heart. Many already did ( No kidding!).But a special breed of group those that are molded to be one is taking the cudgels for our country. They are the entrepreneurs.
Our export entrepreneurs are hit badly but I believe those that are true to their calling will bounce back.
Why am I saying these?
Entrepreneurs are simply opportunity seekers. The more dangerous the situation is the more there are opportunities!
Our client developers are developing property in breakneck speed this year. Some of our taipans are continuously increasing their investment in some of their core business, to name a few, San Miguel Beer, Gokongwei and Sy's of SM are investing a great deal of money in this year.
So let us stop cowering in fear of losing our jobs because according to People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) 60% of the member companies are looking for new employees.
And what if you lose your job, it can be god send that the reason why you lose your job is to fulfill your calling of being an entrepreneur! This is the story of Mr. Butch Albaraccin, founder of the Center for Pop Music.

Hiring people for events and exhibits marketing is very hard!
First, there are very few schools that offer exhibition marketing and management as a course.
Second, the industry is an exciting industry but demands hard work, which only a few people are willing to undergo.
So each and everytime, I am faced with an applicant aspiring to be part of the industry, almost always I am like facing a white wall.
There was a time that we ranked number 3 in Asia in tradeshow and exhibition, now where are somewhere in the 50 and above.
As competition becomes tougher and as other government realized faster the importance of exhibition in the country's development, our industry in our country becomes deep in the abyss of uncertainty and...
the more it is hard to find people talented, energetic, knowledgeable and visionary in charting the way of exhibition and expo in our country.
I hope there is light at the end of this dark tunnel.
