What you sow is what you reap.

This is a commonplace knowledge that a lot of people seems to forget or ignore - precisely because it is simple. But there is nothing simple about this concept. This concept requires an open heart. This concept requires selflessness. So in my journey with life I feel the lightness of my being when I encounter a person or a group that practice this concept with dedication and passion.

I focus my attention to Filipino Bloggers Worldwide (FBW). This is one group that you can see the power of reciprocity in full practice. The leaders are there driving the whole group to give what should be given. They also ensure that those that give take what they must take.

They say excellence is achieved by establishing a habit. In FBW, a good habit worthy of emulation is practiced.

Therefore, when an opportunity presents itself for me to show my big love and thank you for the group I did not hesitate. When the leaders or admins as we call them agreed the rest is history.

The first Filipino Bloggers Night took place. It happened with a bang!

As I saw the bloggers that I meet online in person I am extremely happy. Hubris might be the right word. What is more gratifying than talking face-to-face with people you admired online.

I am still in cloud 9 because of this experience. I have created and involved myself in with a lot of events. I say that the FBW Bloggers Night is one of the events I consider on top of my lists.

Reciprocity in a virtual space that translates into the physical space – this is pure magic.

This is FBW.

This is an ordinary number for some, most especially to people who live and breathe the internet. This is a number that may be a commonplace that we can ignore – why not!

However, for me 100,000 is a special number that plays around in my mind every day. First, I never imagined that exlinkeventsblog will reach the 100,000 visitors this year. Writing for me is the first and foremost objective of creating a blog. To write is to express regardless of what topics are at hand. To express is to be free. Freedom is something you struggle to achieve and enjoy.

In addition, to be read or even to be viewed for a second is like a clap that a speaker receives in public speaking. This is a natural high for the writers. It is my opium. Writing is one of my paradise amidst the chaotic urban city that we live in.

Lastly, lest I am mistaken for boasting this achievement let me correct this. All I want to do is to mark this milestone as special. But most of all, I just want to say thank you to all the readers and co-bloggers that helped me in allowing this blog to reach this milestone today, November 28, 2012.

Now my mindset is to get that 200,000 with meaning that is to continue the purpose of this blog to educate and inform about events management, M.I.C.E, conference, trade shows, expos and association events that are shaping the lives of many people and are making a big impact in the economy of our country and the world.

Eventually, thru my blog more M.I.C.E. Professionals are born and Event Management as an industry becomes one of the industries where Filipinos are declared by the whole world as number one! 

This is the feeling that I have as the year comes to a close. The feeling that a lot of events we created and managed this year are successful (albeit there are bumps and bruises along the way). Now as we wrestled with two remaining months, the two events that pose as a challenge makes my adrenalin rush.

I am talking about the Advertising and Event Suppliers Conference and Expo (AESCEX) slated this November 13, 2012 at Bayanihan Center, Pioneer St., Pasig City.

This event is on its first year and is about to make its mark in the advertising and events industry as THE EVENT after AD Congress.

An event of ASAP which Exlinkevents is very happy to be deeply involved in. Since the jury is not yet out on its performance I am confident that it is a breakthrough event that spells success. 

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Aldrin, Lyza, Rhaine, Maricel and the rest of the Exlinkers that gave time to this undertaking. A shout also to my boss and commander and chief Mitch, her giving me free reign in some undertakings is the key for the explosive moves I made this year ( yes it is like a crossover and tomahawk dunks in basketball – just the feeling J)

Of course, there are other personalities in ASAP that made this event possible and I love them all.

Another event that gives a whiff of mint all over my body is the 9^th MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo slated this December 7-9 at Megatrade, SM Megamall.

Imagine getting the support of Ka-Entrep, BMSD Photographers Philippines and, one of my online homes, the Filipino Bloggers Worldwide (FBW) in offering beneficial activities for the visitors of the expo – the support is a joy no money or object can equal.

The 4^th Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Reputation Awards (OBRA) is also a must see event. I am so pump-up to know the winners and hear their emotional speeches. Another is the OFW Business Summit where mainstay OFW Thought Leader supporters like Jeric Lee, Alvin Tabanag, Lourdes Rivera and Jerry Yao lend their talents to inspire and educate the attending visitors.

The Philippine PROPAK 2012 Lunch and Networking Reception by Bangkok Exhibition Services Limited (BES) Thailand held last May 2 at New World Hotel was a resounding success.

The event was led by Justin Pau, General Manager of BES and Supawan Teerarat, Exhibition Director of Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

The event was strongly attended by targeted buyers of the PROPAK 2012 and friends from media.

BES Thailand tapped Exlinkevents to manage the event.

I know everybody will agree that the holiday season will bring out the best events in the land. For one, this part of the year is the best way to make a killing and laugh your way to the bank. The Corporate, School and Family Christmas parties are events that bring out the merriment of the season. Bazaars from every corner of the metro and the provinces sprout like mushrooms. Concerts and plays bombard us.

The malls and commercial establishments also come out with a lot of gimmicks, even extending their time of operations just to capture the spending spirits of the shoppers.

Indeed, we are all lost in this crazy season.

However, for the events management companies this is the time where their creative juices are challenged, and their struggle to be heard in the midst of the noise become an Everest – too high and too stiff.

I am enjoying the dynamic air of the energy that is everywhere and I am happy for all the projects that all the event and production companies are getting and implementing this season.

As for me, Exlinkevents still has one event to implement the MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo this December 9-11, 2011 at Megatrade, SM Megamall.

The turn-out of this trade show is very encouraging and broke all the pass records in terms of exhibitor participations and, hopefully, visitor attendance.

What can I say the sea of opportunities is so wide and the events industry is so big that it is dominating the holiday season like colorful and bright lanterns that adorn our streets, highways and homes. 

Gov. LRey Villafuerte of Camarines Sur will be the main guest in the opening ceremony of the 2^nd Travel Philippines Show slated December 9-11,2011 at the Megatrade, SM Megamall.

The event features Camsur  the new number one tourist destination in the country.

The 2^nd Travel Philippines Show is an event back-to-back with MegaBalikbayan OFW Expo. Both these events are aimed at attracting the Balikbayan and OFW market to start and invest in a business in the country and travel the beautiful tourist spots of the country.

When projects in events management pour in and you can’t handle it anymore there is only one way to face it and that is cooperate with your competitors and industry members.

Try as you may, there will come to a point that you will not be able to serve all the clients. Even if you think that to share projects with competitor is the antithesis of killing competition. In first place, nobody said that you have to kill competition. No we you must not kill but strive to stay ahead of the competition.

The funny thing is the more you share projects with your competitor or industry members you grow. It is called synergy in coopetition. Two words that you must keep in mind.

Two words that will place you ahead of the curve – so ahead that you will feel that Usain Bolt is a slow runner.

Yes, it is similar to a rain. This is the reason I called it downpour. Have you ever felt it a situation where you are inundated by a lot of projects and you just smile and take it. As this situation continues you become selective and just take those things that you can deliver and beg off to things you cannot deliver or is out of your competence?

But before these things happen the most important question is how does this downpour occur? I can find two important factors and this is worth discussing in depth but not today.

I believe that the cause of downpour is our REPUTATION AND COMPETENCE on the field we are working with. These two factors give us the SPEED OF TRUST that the clients are giving us.

What are the manifestations of the Trust? Of course, projects left to right.

Definitely, this is the downpour I am talking about the projects where in the normal rain you open your umbrella so that you will not get wet. In our case, we open the umbrella and use it as a bucket to catch all that we can catch and bask at the feeling of being wet with projects.

It is easy to get it when you’re into events. There is never a dull moment in events for one. When you close your eyes either the competition is ahead a thousand miles or you have a milestone or a task that is delayed.

But I tell you never subscribe or use the power of adrenaline in events management or events organizing. It is too risky. Event must be approached systematically. Yes, we must do it with precision. Never left any stone unturned.

Well, of course, adrenaline will always come. But let it come having in mind that you are so prepared and you’re after perfection. Not the other way around where you use it as if your house is on fire and you muster your strength to lift a refrigerator and take it out safely in away from your burning house.

If can be scientific and use the tools available, there is no doubt you will be one of the most sought after or revered event management in the Philippines or even this part of the world.

I admire event organizers who have the steadfastness and stubbornness to make things happen. They are a special breed of people who despite the odds will make the impossible possible.

Take the case last week where Typhoon Falcon lashed out our country, there are events scheduled to take place, and as far as I know, all of the events pushed through.

Having witnessed these, I take my hats off to all the event organizers of those events.

This brings me to an important rule when you are an event’s organizer or manager, the rule is “the show must go on” no matter what the challenge maybe except if it is life and death.

This is our life as an event’s organizer, producer or manager; we should be unstoppable because we should be unstoppable.

Events and expo are a great source of increasing your channel support. Channel support or distribution system is a tool to out your products and services to a greater number of people.

 There are three things you can gain in events or expo if you are focus on generating channel support.

1. Identify and recruit new distributors or partners

Events and expo gives you a lot of opportunities to recruit new distributors and partners. The face-to-face interaction with new distributors and partners gives you an edge in terms of knowing these potential partners deeper and if they fit into your company’s standard.

2. Support You Current Sales Channel

An increase of new distributors automatically improves your existing sales channels. This is the power of events and expo where the thousands of visitors that go in to see your exhibits give you the leverage to attract more distributors.

We all know that more distributors mean more sales in the pipeline – a must to make your particular sales channel healthy and profitable.

3. Build your reputation as partner   

If you are a sales channel or distributor, events and expo helps you increase your sales partners. In the eyes of the companies that tap your services you become trustworthy because you have proven yourself to move their volumes of products and services to the market.

This situation improves your reputation as a distribution center or sales channel.

As I have mentioned in a lot of my blogs, events and expos are a veritable source of strategic ways to increase your sales. Sometimes you just have to see more than the tangible things that events and expos offer.

Talk to me, it’s all I want from you. Talk to me like you mean it. Look into my eyes and listen when I speak. Listen intently. Listen and place yourself into my shoes. When you do this I also expect you to respond accordingly. You should be knowledgeable and you should be honest if you do not know the answers. We may share a few laughs and exchange banters that will remind me about you, as a distinct person, out of the many people that I will talk with.

Yes, talk to me and try to warm me up. Try to gain my trust. Only when you do this with sincerity will I part ways with my hard earned money. Only when I give my trust to you as a person will I give trust to the products and services that you are offering.

This is how we do business. This is the way business should be if we are aiming to exist in the long haul. Business is a marathon not a sprint. So do not rush me as if you just look at me as an ATM machine to get your income. Invest time and relationship and I will invest my resources on your business. Heck! I can even be your zealous disciple advocating that everybody try your products and services.
